Starting this early in case I don't make it by until later.
Ordered pizza Wednesday night since I had a free 3 topping coupon and didn't feel like cooking. I have a bunch leftover so it will be lunches for a day or so.
Will be roasting chicken and veggies tonight (mushrooms, onions, sweet & white potatoes, celery, carrots) and using the leftover chicken over the next day or so in Mexican dishes.

Mr. Ketchup is fighting a cold and working so we'll see how he feels when he gets home.....

(31,170 posts)the past few days but I can't get him to take anything for it. I hate seeing him sick.
I always pop zinc as soon as a cold starts up, or eat something nice and spicy. I have a friend who swears by Hot and Sour soup for colds. I think we just fry the cold germs with the spices.
Hope he is better soon.

(31,170 posts)Sounds like he is more reasonable than Bill is! At least your guy will take something for it!

(20,234 posts)(for the leg quarters). I went to stock up, got 20 pounds for the freezer for 5 bucks. But when I was there I saw they had prime rib for under $4/lb. I got a small roast, it was my first time cooking one. Tasty but it totally messed up my savings for the trip.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)Still, it's a killer deal on the chicken.
I've never made prime rib at home either, so I might have given it a try too, at that price!

(20,234 posts)It looked great as a roast, it had two bones in it and there are two of us. I know for spareribs you just cut between the ribs. I tried that, but we each ended up with a plated hunk of meat that was 1.5 pounds and we looked like we were in an episode of the Flintstones. It tasted great, but we each have LOTS of leftovers - we made ourselves doggie bags even though we were already home.

(31,170 posts)At least you know what you're having for the next day or so, and that price per pound vs number of meals may pay off after all!

(50,130 posts)Some chipotle in the hash, and minced leeks for flavor, and also a blob of grainy mustard.
Served with slaw made with savoy cabbage, green apple and spicy peanuts.

(31,170 posts)and they use fruit in the mix too. I loved it.

(32,080 posts)But, I put way too much liquid in it, so it's soup now. I may resort to dehydrated potato flakes to thicken it up. Or, just leave it as soup.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)Sounds really good to me either way!

(32,080 posts)I can always drain out the extra liquid.
Glad you're feeling well enough to hang out here tonight. Not feeling well sucks.

So I dug into the freezer for some pot stickers and some broccoli.
