I'm sure you know this, but making a sustainable change in your life is more important than the speed the weight drops off. Sounds like a good plan though! I've had good luck with that same basic diet.

4. Why have you given yourself such a short period of time to lose that much weight?

I notice that some of the other comments has similar (albeit veiled) sentiments. I guess they feel it's supportive but it is a common tendency to be very extreme with one's attempts at self-improvement. A pound a week is considered rather ambitious (which would only lead to a 12-pound loss in your time frame) and I feel that being conservative in this case is the best policy. Why? Because it's more do-able. Plateaus are very common and then you begin to lose again but in the interim there may be a bit of discouragement if the goal is not reached in the time period.

I lost a little more than 25 pounds from mid-March through mid-July. (I am on Weight Watchers, and I reached my goal weight in mid-July.)

And I know EXACTLY what you mean by exercising in winter. I'm a runner who has a goal of a first half-marathon next May. Since this May I have been working on my endurance, and am now up to 5 miles. I want to get to at least 6 by the end of September. Trouble is, Indiana winters aren't much better than Michigan winters, and plus, I'll have a job in October that requires early hours. I'm going to run when I can as long as I can, but I am really dreading the change in my activity schedule.

So, I'm right there with you. Any ideas on how you're going to manage the winter months?
