Say hello to MAINSTREAM Republican/Teaparty...My Gay Friends...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/25/bobby-jindal-gay-marriage_n_6541920.html

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said Sunday he would support an amendment to the Constitution that would enable state legislatures to outlaw same-sex marriage if the U.S. Supreme Court were to overturn various state bans.

So that is at least two of the clowns in the clown car who have made it official that they deeply HATE all LGBT people.

And make no mistake, this is about hate, nothing else.

Correct. If this had any legs it would have already happened under Bush. NCLefty Feb 2015 #4

Or do I simply live in such an insular environment (SF peri-bay area) that I'm unaware of growing homophobia out there?

It's a deeply worrying - even frightening - phenomenon.

One credit I will give our haters.. at least they show where they stand, and we know where they stand. I'll take an honest asshole over a deceitful jackass any day.

To Jindal, it's all just political posturing for political reasons. The entire notion is completely laughable.

Even with their current majorities in the house and senate, the republicans aren't even CLOSE to having the 3/4 majority needed to get an amendment off the ground using the main method of ratification.

The only method that would even be closest is the state ratification method, and they aren't even close at all to having the numbers for the 2/3rds. First, this method has NEVER been successfully used. Second, 34 states would have call the convention with a 2/3rds majority in their legislatures.. The pubes only have simple majority in 30 states. Much fewer have the 2/3rds majority of Republicans required. They might get a few crossover DINO's in some states, but nowhere near the numbers they'd need.

Jindal knows damn well that at best it's a total fantasy that this could EVER happen in this age. All this does is rally, and polarize his hateful supporters.
