Want to know what'll really get fundies hot under the collar? This...

WWE’s “Stone Cold” Steve Austin delivered a vociferous and full-throated support of same-sex marriage on his podcast. Austin, who was the most-profitable wrestler in the WWE, and declared its “biggest star,” put the full force of his presence behind his words...

“I don’t give a shit if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the goddamn world, that wants to be married, and if it’s same-sex, more power to ‘em.”

“What also chaps my ass, some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say ‘we as a church do not believe in that.’ Which one of these motherfuckers talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?”

“OK, so two cats can’t get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to fucking prison, and accept God and He’s going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that shit? See that’s all horseshit to me, that don’t jive with me.”

Pretty much sums it up for me, and I gave up watching wrestling at the age of 8.

Steve gave the interview (and I posted about it) in August of last year.

Likewise, his position isn't REALLY all that surprising, there are several prominent gay wrestlers of the past 30 years and he would have worked with all of them basically.

You'd think that most wrestlers would be pretty liberal about homosexuality, both because of the prominent gay wrestlers and because of the homoeroticism that wrestling can sometimes be accused of (I'm bisexual and was a semi-pro wrestler, I'm allowed to say that) but a lot of people in the business are really conservative (although they often tend more towards the libertarian side of conservatism).

That said, the business has changed a lot in the last twenty years and the good ole boys aren't in charge so much anymore. There are still racists and homophobes around but (with the exception of Michael Hayes), they know enough to keep their mouths shut. Darren Young came out and the company and most of the talent supported him (and it hasn't hurt his career, he's just as wasted now as he was before).

It definitely isn't. Just that Steve has worked with several prominent gay wrestlers over the years and definitely falls into the anti-establishment crowd.

That's how most Steve Austin matches ended when he was in his prime. Boot, stunner, pin, beer-bath.

How we've dreamed, sweated, bled and suffered insanely infantile bigotry to finally get recognition as equals. Tears of sorrow may someday turn to those of joy. May the great spirit embrace our brothers and sisters in backwards lands that keep the twisted old hatreds resuscitated.
