6. Is that a leading foreign policy conversation point down the years?

It's more of a domestic matter, with repeal of DADT and marriage questions on state ballots. This was the "foreign policy" debate--or was supposed to be....

I can't see RMoney going to bat over the plight of gay kids in Iran, for example...just wouldn't occur to him, I don't think.

Nothing is going to move in Congress in our favor whether we were mentioned in the debates or not. Our biggest battle right now is marriage equality & all that comes with it and I don't care what anyone says, thats going to happen in the Courts.

And strengthening of the idea that we are only fed a bone now and then for our loyal vote. That possibility really irritates me.

or was it the VP debates? I am thinking when they subject started out on something to do with women or abortion and there was this comment about marrying who you love. I could be mixed up but I remember thinking the thing robme said was so "dog whistle" - kids need to have a mother and a father or something like that...

since we are a spread out minority. Jews, who are less populous than we are, are concentrated in Florida among other places. Cubans who are way less than us are also concentrated in Florida. Hispanics are concentrated in places such as Virginia, Colorado, and Florida.

in civil rights equality for gay people over the last four years has been quite remarkable. I know it's dangerous to get comfortable, but being a bit older than most of you here, I'm happy with the progress today that has been made relative to an ugly past with some of the homophobic demagogues and measure which I can recall firsthand (Helms, Dannemeyer, Reagan, Bowers v. Hardwick, GWB, Prop. 8 and on and on), and I'm confident with Obama's re-election, progress will continue.

Ultimately, progress happens because you demand it - for yourself. It's not a favor. It's not a privilege. Equal treatment under the law is a fundamental human right.
