Netanyahu: The Jewish holiday of freedom should be Jonathan Pollard's as well

Wife of Israeli spy, Esther Pollard urges Shimon Peres to ask U.S. President Obama to release Pollard on humanitarian grounds due to illness, says she 'does not want to be a widow.'

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/netanyahu-the-jewish-holiday-of-freedom-should-be-jonathan-pollard-s-as-well-1.423262

<snip>

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Sunday for the release of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, who was hospitalized over the weekend following deterioration in his medical condition.

"The Jewish holiday of freedom should become Pollard's private holiday of freedom, Netanyahu said."I will continue working toward his release."

President Shimon Peres met with Pollard's wife, Esther, in Jerusalem on Sunday and promised her that he will urge President Obama to release him due to his medical condition.

Esther Pollard told Peres that "time is running out" and said she does not want to turn into "Jonathan's widow." She urged Peres to ask Obama to release Pollard on humanitarian grounds."

The damage Pollard did to this country was enormous.

To this day, Israel has not returned stolen classified U.S. documents, copies of which were then passed on to the Russians.

of Netanyahu is of course considered anti-semitic. But that's like Charlie Manson saying it was unfair to execute Ted Bundy.

Happens all the time. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean that it isn't true. Just because they won't show you examples doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Right.

Either his sentence was just and fair, or it wasn't. Obviously, he's guilty. The question I have is whether his sentence was equivalent to what others who have done the same thing have received, or whether he was given a disproportionate sentence because he was spying for Israel. My guess is that he received the sentence he deserved, but I'm open to learning otherwise. So he deserves life in prison. I would not release him.

On a regular basis a foreign country attempts to interfere with US politics over this criminal.

either he stays in jail or is freed and given the choice to either immigrate to Israel or remain in the US under security surveillance, should be an interesting vote to say the least

And Obama has no "decision" to make.

There are thousands of people in jail who are convicted of federal crimes and serving their sentences.

This piece of shit Pollard is no different. He was in jail in 2008 as well.

There is utterly no need for the White House to "decide" anything here.

I do indeed understand what is going on here, and some of the free Pollard a""holes as you put it post here on this group/forum if not on this thread, this is hardly the first time it's been brought up and I am aware neither Clinton or Bush freed Pollard albeiit a Presidential pardon is and was a possibility

both Christopher Boyce and Daulton Lee have been freed for instance and it is and has been made into an issue much like Iran it's not that I am so much for freeing Pollard as much as I am for defanging a political serpent of sorts

eta what I am suggesting here is is making this the Republican's hornets nest that's why I've said the House, either way they wind up stung IMO
