Israel Today newspaper, which is close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, raised concerns about the most recent developments in Egypt, remarking that despite the Muslim Brotherhoods enmity toward Zionism, they did not threaten Camp David in any way. Now, however, the paper continued, with a campaign underway to gather millions of signatures against the treaty, its future is uncertain.
The paper added that the matter would not have amounted to much had it been any group other than the Tamarrud movement which is largely responsible for mobilizing the protests that brought down Mohamed Mursi on July 3 that is leading the campaign. Worse yet, the effort appears to be part of a more general drive to end US aid to Cairo in light of the steps Washington is taking to sanction Egypts military.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Tamarrud declared its intention to collect 20 million signatures calling for the revocation of the peace accords, reminding its readers that this is the same movement that managed to gather 17 million signatures against Mursi.

This is a desperate attempt to look a bit less like the pro-military toadies that they are. But its a bit late now that Sisi has cut off their nuts and has them in a jar on his desk.

(45,850 posts)on reading more about Tamarrud and taking this article into account, it seems the words irony, oops, and back to the drawing board, come to mind for supporters of Egypt's military coup
alternately what another said above too, in which case they roasted their own gooses

(3,093 posts)Tamarrud haven't yet realized their status as "naive patsies" and "means to an end", and think they can still accomplish something of meaning. Trouble is, Sisi has long-ago relegated himself to the role of collaborationist-for-profit, and knows very well how these things work. I expect Tamurrud to receive the "MB" treatment once the MB itself has extinguished its will to resist, if not sooner.
