JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A day after Israel's foreign minister called on Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to visit Israel, a Muslim Brotherhood official called such a visit impossible.
"There is no possibility for Morsi to visit the Zionist entity," Gamal Heshmat of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party told an Egyptian online news magazine, Ynet reported.
"President Morsi's patriotism will not allow him to do so," Heshmat said, saying that the presidential palace will turn down the invitation.

(800 posts)Your snide comment contributes nothing to the discussion. It just displays your bias, that what is bad for Israel is automatically good for the Arabs. It doesn't work that way in the real world. Do you really think Morsi is better for the Egyptians than Mubarak was? How's it working out so far?
In any event, perhaps Israel does miss Mubarak. Is that a bad thing? At least Mubarak didn't talk about "the Zionist entity". Refusing to name your peace partner - and Israel is technically an ally of Egypt since there is a peace treaty between the two countries - is NOT a good sign of progress to come.

(256 posts)Israel supported Mubarak for 30 years. Mubarak enriched himself while the average Egyptian spent decades suffering under a government that condemned him to poverty and ignorance.

and Morsi didn't mention Israel by name here either
With Israel among those most suspicious of his intentions, not least because of his longtime involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood, Mr Morsi seemed particularly eager to reassure Egypts western neighbour even if he did not mention the Jewish state by name.
The president promised that a military campaign he started to root out Islamist militants in the Sinai Peninsula dividing the two countries would be conducted in compliance with the Israel-Egypt peace treaty of 1979.
Egypt is practising its very normal role on its soil and does not threaten anyone and there should not be any kind of international or regional concerns at all from the presence of Egyptian security forces, Mr Morsi told the Reuters news agency.

and I'm sure none of this has a whit to do with Morsi being at the NAM conference in Tehran right now, nope not a thing
