Israel - Hamas war: France calls for 'immediate and durable' Gaza truce

17 December 2023

France has called for an "immediate and durable truce" in the Israel-Hamas war, saying that it is deeply concerned about the situation in Gaza.

Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna added that too many civilians were being killed.

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said a ceasefire would be an error, describing it as a gift to Hamas.

The UK and Germany earlier called for a "sustainable ceasefire", but stopped short of saying it should be immediate.

all they need to do is convince Hamas to release all the hostages, stop firing rockets at israel, surrender the preps of Oct 7 for justice, and unilaterally disarm. it's not a solution ,but is a good start.

I would add that they should be made to do cartwheels as they're handing over the hostages. Preferably with one hand tied behind their backs and while singing the Israeli national anthem.

If you are going to demand terms impossible for them to accept, may as well kick it up a notch to the absurd as your aim is not peace anyway.

And the IDF seems to be shooting anyone who moves, even its own fellow Israelis. Israelis need mass protests to force Bibi and his war-mongering cabinet out of office and out of Gaza. Otherwise, the IDF will probably kill the remaining hostages with their shoot first, ask questions later approach.
