There appears to be move afoot to bring Israeli and Palestinian leaders together in a bid to revive the moribund peace process with France leading the way.
According to a Channel 2 report on Friday, the French government has submitted details of its diplomatic plan to members of the UN Security Council.
The document calls for the convening of an international summit which would include Arab states as well as representatives of the Quartet.
The agenda of the conference, which would take place as early as April, includes laying the groundwork for a meeting between Israeli and Palestinian officials this summer.

I guess that answers the question. Expect stabbings.

(16,366 posts)The Palestinians and their leadership claim the knife intifada is designed to protect the al-aksa mosque from desecration (and eventual destruction) by Jews and their "filthy feet" to quote Abbas.
This video is a good summary of the Palestinian incitement to violence:
The Palestinians though the years, especially recently, have been brainwashed to believe this libel, consider that the Temple Mount is controlled by Muslims and Jews and Christians are not even allowed to pray anywhere on those 37 acres of land.
The notion of desecration and destruction of the mosque by Jews is completely divorced from reality.

(3,385 posts)Let's say that Israel is forced to withdraw from the West Bank and the Arab parts of Jerusalem in exchange for little or nothing from the Palestinians. Now there would be a small chance that peace would take hold, which I think you would be okay with. But that's unlikely, and there would almost certainly be attacks against Israel from Palestine. Would Israel put up with that? Maybe for a while, but not for long. So there would be a war. And as long as Israel wins that war, what then? Quite likely no Palestine ever again, and many of the Palestinians flee to Jordan. Not good for Israel because of the casualties, but really terrible for the Palestinians. And they would have only there themselves and their Leftist friends to blame.
I know what you're thinking. What if Israel can't win the war? In that case, Israel is in trouble no matter what. So the key is making sure that Israel is militarily and politically strong enough to win any future war.

(3,385 posts)Just as I'm sure that the Chinese didn't want to be at war with the Japanese in 1937, and that the Soviets didn't want to be at war with the Nazis in 1941. Sometimes you don't have the choice (unless you want to surrender, which is the only guaranteed way to prevent war).
