That is actually what it is, yet another con to make somebody rich and not truly help students.

It doesn't matter the program, right answers are marked wrong, steps are skipped (or added in that then confuse the students), explanations can't be changed to help a particular student do better, and every student ends up needing a teacher to help them out.

I particularly like the contrast between "so boring" and "steps were left out."

Put in all the steps for one kid, and you bore another. Leave out the steps to avoid boredom for one kid and you lose another kid.

Put in all the background knowledge necessary and you bore many kids or leave them feeling overwhelmed. Leave it out and you lose many kids.

On-line learning requires that the students be motivated to figure out what they didn't get and take steps to fill in the gaps.

The reason schools usually use on-line learning is to help students who aren't getting it in the classroom, and that's usually because of lack of motivation and often a lack of curiosity.

I've had students signed up for as many as three different classes and then hustling to finish any of them on time. I've had very few students actually understand the material enough to discuss it with me afterward, let alone finish the material on time.
