Just a chuckle.....

Tuesday at one of the schools, computer support in two school districts, I work in I noticed and thought about the sign on the door to a math teachers classroom, "Must Wear Protective Eyegear.". Always knew that math stuff was dangerous or it could be because the classroom used to be a science lab! Nah... that math stuff is dangerous.

Danger, Will Robinson.

And how about differential equations or --- horrors, among horrors --- eigenvalues and eigenvectors. But those pale in comparison to complex analysis where these mathematicians use --- shudder --- unreal numbers. Don't get me started with Feynman integrals, which leads to... Quantum Mechanics!!!

BTW, the study of tensors leads to sterility!

In that classroom they probably use protractors and sharp pointy compasses: Weapons of Math Instruction

and geometry were almost the death of me or was it my parents who tried to teach a non science/math kid the basics....To this day I still hate math. Anything much over the checkbook or tips at the resturant is too much for me. Watching my daughter struggle with math, I'm at the point where she is smarter than I will ever be in math and it's not her favorite subject either. Sad when I have to call int he 17yo to help his sister with her homework. But he likes science and math, will be majoring in them at college next year. Didn't get that from me that's for sure....
