"Now is our time," union leaders say in video to membership
UAW leaders at the Ford Division have set expectations high in a video to the membership that hammers home the point that they will not accept concessions in their next contract.
The current contract covering 141,000 unionized members at Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles expires on Sept. 14 and talks are heating up.
The Ford-UAW team put out a video Thursday night with messages from the bargaining team to the membership.
"This is not a concessionary agreement," said Frederick Weems, bargaining representative Local 551 at the Chicago Assembly Plant that makes the Ford Explorer, Taurus and police vehicles but will cease to make the Lincoln MKS.
