Bolivia Approves Universal Prenatal Allowance Decree

LA PAZ, Aug 7 (BERNAMA-NNN-Prensa Latina) -- Bolivian President Evo Morales has confirmed the approval of the Universal Prenatal Allowance that guarantees financial support to all pregnant mothers in the country.
Our government is developing a new social policy, taken to support the prenatal status of Bolivian pregnant women, said Morales when addressing the nation on the occasion of the official celebration of the 190 years of independence in the city of Trinidad, in the Amazonian department of Beni.
Morales recalled that employed women receive products given by prenatal allowance equal to the national minimum wage, which previously only benefited 46,000 women. Now, he stressed, these subsidies will be given to all pregnant women, who are about 285,000.
According to the President, pregnant women will receive a stipend of 300 bolivianos per month and four months of subsidies.
