Americans, post-Reagan, don't impress me when they aim their righteous dissent at left-wing Latin American countries -- in particular at target Venezuela, target Bolivarian revolution, target Snowden, target Greenwald....

There's something about the self-righteousness of the right-wing US attacks on Venezuela that angers me to the core.
It doesn't fly over my head that, generally speaking, these same attackers attack Edward Snowden, Glen Greenwald, Matt Taibbi ---
Not each and every - but as a bunch there is an awful pattern and the bunch hangs together. It isn't a pattern directed toward making the world a better place.

Democrats in the US or progressive positions. I am not sure what left wing means for you and others here. It seems like a shit hole these days and why anyone would support this model is beyond me. Other latin American nations certainly aren't following the Venezuela model.

Its sad, it was at one time a pleasant country pre-Chavez.

And you don't comprehend your own projection.

To be sure, that isn't *your* sickness, in particular. It's the sickness of your country - and the trickle down effect of it.
The number one factor of that sickness is a total lack of memory, coupled with a total lack of any sense of moral culpability.

I don't blame your MSM for it. I think the sickness is greater than "the MSM".

and you have the audacity to mention moral culpability. Look, if there is US involvement, then we are complicit with the Venezuelan government to shoot at the protesters. The protesters and the US government are not forcing the Ven and their paramilitaries to fire upon these students.

Your MSM reference came from left field so I won't bother with that nonsense, and you insult us by insinuating that all yanks are mindless and only know what the MSM tells us.

Yes. I have the audacity to mention US moral culpability.

Kind of like I'd hold a country as morally culpable for hosting such an abomination as "The School of the Americas".
Allow me a moment to push your nose into that.

Your sentence "If there is US involvement, then we (you mean the US?) are complicit with the Venezuelan government to shoot at the protestors" is fucking insane. I repeat, the sentence is fucking insane.

The US didn't murder the model that got the students to be enraged.

The US didn't literally build paramilitary collectivos to run around doing justice at the end of a firearm.

The US didn't give tupamaros total impunity to do whatever the fuck they want, kill whoever they want, for the revolution.

Every time you pull this pointless bullshit you always lack evidence, you just spout off as if you know shit about the given situation you are rambling about.

It is embarrassing.

Where is your evidence that "Chavistas in this forum" defend atrocities?

Why are you making this issue *totally* ad hominem?

Do you mean to accuse those who have been burned before by big money producing fabrications to oil the way for right-wing coups, for being skeptical?

What about those who think that, if such action justifies a coup, then the USA should also undergo a coup overthrowing US democracy?
If so, who do you think should lead such a coup overthrowing US democracy? Should these be the *identical* people who're intent on producing a coup in Venezuela?

I mean, you've done it already.

No one here is fucking advocating a coup. We're just being critical of a murderous regime. Big deal. Nothing will happen. Maduro will sit on his throne of death and murder until he is inevetably recalled. If, and it's a big if, it escalates sufficiently, then Diosdado Cabello will do the coup, and create a defacto junta in Venezuela. So don't worry, the fascist opposition isn't going to gain power, OK?

Don't worry. Breath. It's all good.

Blood runs in Venezuela tonight.

And I don't know enough about it - the media has *always* told a distorted story about not just Venezuela, but Latin America as a whole - and I'll no doubt have to wait for some real reportage, some honest analysis.

But I have no respect whatsoever for those DUers who are creaming in their jeans over the violence, eager for a coup (while affirming that they are not), while showing a total disinterest and disdain for putting these events into historical or cultural context. While flatly denying history. I have no respect for those several here in this particular group who deny history entirely, in particular the history of their own country's terrorist activities throughout what it calls, in the proprietary way that it has of describing things, its "back yard". As if there's no connection, as if in spite of all evidence there's been some "change" - and as if the only thing that matters is getting worked up in hate for the democratically elected left.

It makes me sick that these right-wingers refuse to acknowledge the humanity of the largely native majority of poor, who have benefited from the gov't they elected and support, while echoing the complaints of the rich and the hangers-on of the rich.

And this is about your disrespect for other DUers.

No one is denying past USA history. You will typically be unable to substantiate that particular lie.

I can look at the pictures and see humans. Not rich vs poor. 49% of the population voted for the opposition. Of that maybe 10% are wealthy (probably less), so you accuse the rest of being "hangers on." 39% (or some 80% of the protesters) are just fools who need to be looked over by the paternalistic authoritarian state.

And there's tons of photos and video footage showing the national guard cooperating with paramilitaries in repressing the protesters and shooting a innocent bystanders without provocation. You're essentially denying the facts in front of you without being able to prove your own points. Face it, you're a cynic.
