A few elderly exiles mouth off here and there, just as a warning. I pity them for their ranting and nostalgic blathering, as they will never get what they want.

(17,751 posts)She pretty much says it straight up.
I find it interesting that the older gen of exiles attending and asking her questions don't seem to get that while she's talking about the Castro's and the older gen of revolutionaries being outdated and will be dead and gone soon, thereby opening up room for younger Cubans in gov't, she is talking about the older gen of intransigent exiles in Miami too.
She's essentially saying to them "get over it, the younger gen in Cuba is taking over".

(62,276 posts)She's been saying stuff like this for a really long time, she has problems with management and boogiemen and the class system.
I think the most important take-away is that technology is going to change Cuba and there's not a lot anyone can do about it (be they exiles or be they the status quo within Cuba).

(39,321 posts)the State didn't admit to it.. just google for cholera

(62,276 posts)...but the state media denied it and claimed it was imperialist lies. Later it turned out that there was a cholera outbreak.
Wouldn't this, rather, fall under poor management and fake boogiemen as opposed to, you know, a criticism of free health care?
And her criticisms, of course, harken back to the technology, because without the technology that independent journalist who let it be known that there was a cholera outbreak could not have done it without the ability to text, and in the future, post online directly.
Note: she even chastized the speculators, but blamed it on the fact that state media was, indeed, trying to pass it off and not be up front and transparent about the situation. 3 dead, 50+ infected. That's news whether the state media wants it to be or not.

(39,321 posts)She seems more to admire Cubaness, as in her Jose Marti identification.
