Arghh! New windows opening in tiny little frame. Why?

Up until this morning, when I clicked a link, it would open a new window the same size as the one I had already open and slightly to the right. This is exactly how I like it.

Today, it is opening a very small window right in the middle of the one I have linked from.

On my old machine, if I corrected it once, it would remember and do what I had told it to. But this just keeps repeating it over and over.

How can I fix this??

2. Mine did that when I accidentally snagged F10 with a fingernail going for the end parentheses.

Your keys may be a bit stuck. If it does it again, try toggling F10. I've been having mouse problems for a while and strange things are happening, frustrating.

I double clicked to open the display folder in system preferences and it selected dimensions inside and made all my folders and full screen applications too narrow and too tall, with contents now off the bottom of the display.

I've tried changing it a few times but never got it back the way I've had it for years and now I have to change the enclosed folder icons, font size of the labels and grid spacing whenever I had things to a folder to have them where I can see them. I've had to work around it and it's really taken away from my enjoying this thing.

3. I guess I will spend some time exploring those keys.

I am working on a brand new MacBook Pro, so there is a lot I need to discover.

I tried to fix this through preferences like you and got nowhere. And I remain mystified as to how it went back to behaving exactly like I wanted.

4. Did you get into Expose|Spaces in System Preferences? That's where it came from. I don't think it's

A default setting, so that may be why it went back.

Note there is an option for 'hot keys' which would begin that application when you least expect it.

I've made changes to my Universal Access option, you may have triggered one of those.

I've disabled them, along with Front Row.

If I trigger something I don't want, or the application is overworked I guess, such as Icon Preview not working, Restart returns the default settings.

I made icons for all my folders, as well, through the Finder's File option, Get Info. That way I don't even have to read the label, just click on the picture, image or screen shot I selected as for video, photographs and other collections.

This helps people who can't read, but can use a mouse and I find it's faster for me as well. Good luck with the MacPro. How large is the hard drive on it?

I'm using an older iMac with 250g and have a older laptop with 250g that I keep for the day when the iMac crashes. I found the laptop hard to use.

5. I haven't really explored that area yet.

I am going to look at some of the things you talk about here.

Love my new MacBook Pro. Broke down and bought it after nursing my MacBook through a slow but sure death spiral. I have 4gb and probably will never need more than that.

Due to very limited space, I have to have the laptop. I also have an iPad, but, as a touch typist, that keyboard drives me nuts.

Thanks for all the help, freshwest. I really appreciate it.
