HP Smart app making printing nearly impossible

Anybody know a work around giving HP (or whoever) my credit card info?

Until recently it was so easy to print from my phone. Now I have to give them a credit card or they can't "find the printer"!! Seems very wrong.

1. my printer won't even turn on now

I have no idea what happened, but here I am. I bought a new one. It was $40 for an all in one. I hope it works!!!

2. There are way too many road blocks.

It used to be so easy. Now it won't even recognize the printer serial number that's on the printer. I think it was $80. Bought it in the fall.

3. I hope that doesn't happen to me!

I hate that sh*t. Why do I need an email address (let alone a credit card) to freaking print?!? I have to log into your site to be able to print? This is so insidious.

As an IT Support person for 20 years, this kind of stuff makes me insane.

Note: I have an HP Envy, which I have been printing to via wireless with few problems. But if I want to Scan anything, it makes me log into their website.

4. I've been logging out, unplugging, rebooting...

.. and anything else I could think of. Finally I saw a project pop up on an older version of the HP Smart app. I'm stunned. Maybe it's working now.

5. My HP has refused to print.

It has been a really great printer until now.

7. Don't give up.

So much can go wrong along the way. Even some unrelated driver or a wireless connection needing attention. This printer is way too fancy. Lights up - multicolored!! - and has bells and whistles!
