Sure. Can you describe what you mean by 'distortion'? Hugh_Lebowski Jun 2021 #5

and choose 'Troubleshoot Sound Issues'.

Also have you tried a reboot of the unit?

Actually power it off, and then start it up again with the power button.

Are you using the built-in speakers, or headphones? What sound sources have you tried?

I ran the trouble shooter, didn't help.

This computer has been turned off and on several times since the problem developed.

Mainly headphones occasionally a blue tooth speaker (JBL).

For the most part YouTube.

Do you have any sources that do NOT run in a browser, IOW.

Also maybe try youtube but on a different browser as your normal one.

Do the built-in speakers have same issue as w/headphones and bluetooth?

I played a cd, using MediaPlayer and iTunes, no problems.

I tried YouTube using MS Edge, I normally use Chrome. Same problem.

All speaker systems have the same issue.

That actually can mean a lot of different things

The next thing I'd try is going to the website of the maker of your lappie, and looking for the latest sound drivers for that particular model number, downloading and installing them (even if you already have the newest, just reinstall) and restart.
