Please help Wisconsin become the 17th State calling for reversal of Citizens United

from my email ....

It's hard to express in words just how inspired I am by what happened today at our press conference.

Today, our statewide coalition, made up of everyone from small businesses to farmers to activists, joined State Representative Chris Taylor in introducing a statewide resolution to allow the people a voice on the issue of unlimited corporate money in our elections, and to join the 16 states that have already taken action.

Chip in $17 or whatever you can afford and let's make Wisconsin the 17th state to call for the reversal of Citizens United.

This issue has brought people from all walks of life together like nothing I've seen before. Not only that, but our resolution has cosponsors from both sides of the aisle.

It's truly amazing to see that all our hard work has brought us to this point. And now we need to take our work to the next level and ensure this bill passes.

Since the 2010 Supreme Court ruling, special interest spending on elections has skyrocketed. Total spending on the 2012 election cycle topped $5.2 billion, with over $1 billion coming from outside groups like SuperPACs. This is not what democracy looks like, and that's why we are working so hard get the money out and put the voters back in charge.

Like Representative Taylor said today, if we're going to win this battle, we need to go community to community and door to door to get the support we need - just like we're doing right now with our petition drives in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood.

It's time for Wisconsin to become the 17th state calling for an end to corporate rule.

Fired up,

-Lisa
