U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy is throwing his support behind fellow Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker in the 2016 presidential race.

"I'm backing Scott Walker," Duffy told the crowd gathered in Milwaukee Saturday for the Young America's Foundation Midwest Freedom Conference.

When asked how Walker's likely presidential run would affect Wisconsin, the Wausau Republican and former reality television star applauded the move.

"I think that bold leadership sells. And if you look at what Scott Walker has done in Wisconsin and why he is at the top of the heap right now for presidential candidates, it's because he has something to run on," Duffy said. "He is not saying, 'This is what I'll do if you allow me to be the president.' He's saying, 'This is what I've done in Wisconsin. And I'll take that same bold leadership to Washington. That's why people, I think, have rallied around him. That's the power of Wisconsin, not just our basketball or our football, but our politics."

Duffy, who is serving his third term in Congress, spoke to the conservative youth group with his wife, Rachel Campos Duffy.
