(51,907 posts)This week, counties throughout Washington will be mailing ballots to military and overseas voters. If theres a problem with their ballot, they are able to receive help at a Voter Assistance office located at every base. Unfortunately, the Defense Department recently announced it is recommending that Congress waive the requirement for these offices, putting at risk access to voter assistance services for the members of our military.
As Secretary of State, and the daughter of a veteran, Ill make sure all voters, especially our soldiers who are defending us, have the information and tools they need to be active participants in our democracy.
The Overseas Vote Foundation provides non-partisan voter assistance to U.S. citizens and uniformed service members overseas.
Voting information for Washington State voters from the Secretary of States office.
Budget cuts at the national level mean that state-level services for military and overseas voters become more important than ever. Im running for Secretary of State because I believe that a more engaged electorate means better government. Thats why I will make sure there is a statewide primary voters guide that is printed and delivered to all voters in the state. It will be my priority to ensure that all voters have access to the information they need to be active, informed participants in elections.
Thank you for sharing these important resources with a military of overseas voter that you know.
Sincerely,
kathleen Drew
