11. They have about 35,000 signatures

May 2014

Since they need 250,000, they will be hiring paid signature gatherers. They'd like donations for that, and of course as many volunteer-gathered signatures as possible.

6. Seattle events 4/26-5/3
Sat Apr 26, 2014, 02:15 AM
Apr 2014

We have a week full of great events and hope to see you there!
One thing to keep in mind is that this movement isn’t just about our initiative. It’s about growing awareness regarding the state of our democracy and the power of determined individuals like yourself to change it.

Many voters have given up. They feel that our system is too corrupt to make a difference. Honestly, who doesn’t feel that way sometimes?

The great thing about signature gathering for I-1329 is that it’s a conversation. We’re not begging, hounding or pestering people. We’re asking them to take a minute out of their day to learn about what is possible. We’re showing them that we, their neighbors, care enough not to give up.

Do you have an hour this week to do the same? We’d love to have your company.

Click a link below for more information and to RSVP.

Saturday - April 26th 2014
David Cay Johnston at Town Hall

Sunday - April 27, 2014 (three events)

Interested in calling volunteers instead of collecting signatures? Email [email protected]

Let’s make sure that Washington is the 17th state to go on record asking for a constitutional amendment to get Big Money out of elections.

Thanks and have a wonderful week!!

WAmend Seattle Team

*Just like you, we’re all volunteers doing the best with whatever spare time we have. So thank you for your patience!

8. Stamp Stampede (makers of the Get Money Out of Politics stamp) will be at the 5/3 conference
Fri May 2, 2014, 04:29 AM
May 2014

You know how corrupting the influence of Big Money is over the democratic process. But the Supreme Court of the United States clearly doesn't understand. With decisions like Citizens United and McCutcheon, the Court continues to equate money with free speech and corporations with people. Until we pass a Constitutional Amendment that says otherwise, we're stuck with the status quo.

That's why we're joining WAmend and the Money Out, Voters In coalition this weekend in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR! Working together the 28th Amendment National Roadshow will unify activists, educate everyday Americans and force the media and candidates running for office to talk about the future of the 28th Amendment to #GetMoneyOut of politics.

We'll have a stamping booth at the events, many special guests, and a screening of the new documentary PAY 2 PLAY. You don't want to miss this!

Join us at the 28th Amendment National Roadshow Conference at an event near you:

May 3rd, University Temple Methodist Church, Seattle, WA. 10am - 6pm
May 4th, Portland State University, Portland, OR. 10a - 6p

Our democracy has been overtaken by corporate interests who have bought favor with politicians, putting up huge roadblocks to any legislation that benefits We the People. But all over the country people are fighting back and demanding change. With your support, we'll reclaim our Republic for the many, not the money.

We hope you'll join us in this most important of fights.

Stamp on,

Ben, Ed, Lee, Ashley and Aaron
