Geez, who else does Governor Corrupt owe campaign favors to? Forgive me for being skeptical!
"HARRISBURG -- Republican Gov. Tom Corbett is seeking proposals from private companies interested in taking over the day-to-day operations of the state lottery system, describing it as a way to maximize money for programs benefiting seniors."
"The Corbett administration has taken a preliminary step toward that goal by requesting companies to submit their qualifications. Firms deemed to be qualified then will be asked to submit proposals for how they would lottery boost profits."
"Pennsylvania's $3.2 billion lottery system is the sixth-largest in the nation. Its proceeds contribute to property-tax relief for older residents, as well as financial assistance for public transportation and prescription drug costs."
"Citing the state's significant elderly population, administration officials said there is an increasing demand for programs for seniors."
"Our state's fast-growing population of older adults means time is not on our side, and we need to maximize funding for senior programs and services in a way that does not ask taxpayers to dig any deeper into their pockets," Mr. Corbett said in a statement."
"The commonwealth would maintain ownership of the Pennsylvania Lottery under the proposal being pursued by Mr. Corbett and other administration officials. A private firm would manage the daily operations, while the state would control, inspect and audit the lottery."
