Discharged after a four-year stint in the Marine Corps that included two tours of duty overseas, Nick Charbonneau was met with a harsh reality when he returned home in late 2008.

~snip~

After spending most of his adult life in the military providing security services, Charbonneau, who lacked a college degree at the time, took a job with a security company believing it was his only option.

~snip~

Knowing a career in security was not the path he wanted to take, Charbonneau took advantage of benefits through the GI Bill and began studying at the University of Massachusetts. He completed his undergraduate studies in 3 1/2 years in 2012.

~snip~

Now, Charbonneau spends his days working to find jobs for unemployed soldiers and sailors as the veterans representative at Employment & Training Resources in Framingham.
