I left a blistering message in which I called him a coward and that this vote smacks of xenophobia. I also demanded an explanation. We shall see what he (or one of his staffers) has to say.

I didn't blister - don't know why I didn't.
Just said he better have one hell of a good reason or he will lose his base.

I haven't heard one peep from Loebsack or his staff. They did call me regarding my suspicions of age discrimination in a job I inquired about. But not one word about his misguided (to say the least) vote on the Syrian refugees.

I expect one of those letters in the mail in a week or two - you know the ones. Got one like it after the oil pipeline vote.

Loebsack really got blasted on facebook though. I added a comment there. He posted some crap about "safety of Americans" and it was the literal lead balloon.

There is a funder for Loebsack next Saturday at the Sanctuary in Iowa City from 2-4PM - not sure if we are going yet. Not because of the vote, but it ids just simply getting harder for us to get around.

As a Second District voter who has donated to, volunteered for, and frequently communicated with Dave from the start, I'm increasingly unimpressed with him, and I've had it.

His pro-Keystone Pipeline vote (characterized by him as a pro-union vote) burned a big bridge with many progressives in the Iowa City area. One has to wonder if his seat on the Energy & Commerce Committee has made him vulnerable to persuasion by the lobbyists of Big Energy polluters, and wrapping that vote as "pro-union" is a convenient charade. I realize that's a pretty cynical view, but one has to wonder. Similarly, this cowardly vote on the "SAFE" Act represents a retreat from higher principles. As Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) points out, Democrats LOSE when they don't stand for anything.

Dave has lost my support and done nothing in Congress to win it back. His recent touting of an obscure House bill enabling digitization of warranties is anti-consumer; what consumer on earth wants to search for such important information in the nooks and crannies of a manufacturer's website likely constructed to hide it? Moreover, what if one doesn't have access to a computer, e.g., can't afford it, has inadequate skills, etc.? It disadvantages the most vulnerable consumers. While he worked successfully for flood relief, he hasn't yet championed even a single substantive piece of national legislation. Essentially, he goes to Washington and blends into the woodwork.

I'm fed up. Ironically, since I requested that I be removed from his mailing list I am receiving more communications (for money) from his office than ever before. They're wasting bandwidth.
