Related: About this forumJust hit 109* in Fairfield.
We're on the edge of the Bay Area, but our temps tend more toward Central Valley temps.

(149,762 posts)At the very least, I hope it cools off in the evening.
And maybe it's a dry heat? I find dry heat a bit easier than high humid heat!

(19,459 posts)Although I'm sure our Southern friends would scoff at what I consider humid.

(5,729 posts)I'm at home now--apartment has no central air re local ordinance--windows shut tight all day because I'm on the sunny side of the building and it would only be worse; when I opened the door it was like opening an oven, whoooom. Thankfully the temperature is dropping like a rock at just before 6PM, and by 9PM I'll be able to open up and let some fresh air in.
EDIT: Oh man, WeatherUnderground says Fairfield's still at 107* right now and warmer tomorrow. Tapping 100*+ all week. Stay safe...

(20,879 posts)Waiting on the fog to roll in and cool things off a bit in northern California.
Nothing like hearing the waves cracking against the bluffs and the cool air!
This is California in the northwest!

(36,281 posts)Those evening hours when heat trapped in the attic radiates into the house. On the other hand, the other place we live is in the Phoenix metro area. It's 116F in our backyard there.

(22,904 posts)It affected Marin and Cotati-- not sure where else. Late afternoon/early evening until 9:00 pm.
And another HOT day is on tap.
This is why I detest summer, though July was a very nice month. Still!

(6,491 posts)I'm in a town nearby to Fairfield. We're supposed to have eight days of 100+, including one 105 and a 107. Even the delta breeze didn't cool things off much last night. Really glad my A/C is holding up, PG&E is holding up, and that I have solar. Even with the long strings of 95+ days that we normally get here, my summer electric bill hasn't been above $20. I think this stretch may make it top $20 though.
