Love it! The first season was very authentic to showing what the book told.
Now starting book 2!

(7,699 posts)I just couldn't put the books down. Had to get the next one as I approached the last few hundred pages of the one I was on. Garabaldon is truly amazing. The scope of things she includes is amazing.
I was so disappointed when I finished the last book. I was living in that world and just did NOT want to come out!

(1 post)Ok, I have a real question that I've been dying to actually have answered, please, anyone! :
I watch & like Outlander, but ever since I saw Claire reading with her daughter at like, idk 12 yrs old? (hard to remember child's face at moment) I have felt kinda like.." What's the point?" I mean, she clearly goes back to her time while pregnant & the Scots lose the war & she clearly doesn't end up with Jaimie so....well, why watch to see what happens if we know? Is there something I'm MISSING here? I hate knowing how things end up. Obviously I haven't read the books. Any help or input here, please? Thanks!

(7,294 posts)The same could be said about any and all historical dramas, as long as they are mostly factual. We know how they end. Enjoyed watching The Tudors, even though I knew exactly what would happen to each of his wives. So many other examples.
The scenery. The dialogue. The actors. The costumes. The acting. Etc.
There are so many movies and shows that I have seen before that I will watch again and again, even though I know exactly what is going to happen.
You don't do that?

(8,308 posts)I read all the books just prior to watching season 1. I knew everything that was going to happen and that made it even more enjoyable for me. Seeing what all the characters looked like, and the places. Anticipating all the mind-blowing events that I knew were coming, like the "scar" That still gave me goose bumps. The acting and the production are just so phenomenal, I never tire of watching it.
Slàinte mhath!

(31,818 posts)And when you get into the books - that scene becomes very relevant.
In Firefly in Amber - the beginning of that book (what season 2 was based on) appears to be in the last episode of this season.
We finally get to 'meet' Bree as an adult and Roger (Reverend Wakefields adopted son). Won't give away who HE is - but it is interesting to say the least.

(7,429 posts)Starz announced today that the epic romance of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will continue with a third and fourth season spanning the third book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, Voyager as well Drums of Autumn. Season three follows the couple through new adventures in all new countries...and that's about all we can say about that without spoiling the end of season two.
Just read that this morning. It's certainly nice to think I'll have something to look forward to in the coming years.
