Survivor Blood v. Water - episode 4 thread - no spoilers for future episodes please

I LOVED last night's episode. I truly think that was what MB had in mind for tribal counsel when it was set up. When a person truly thinks they are goign home and that they are the last man in the alliance, they can turn it around openly.

The episode started with John wakign up Candice and Marissa at RI. John was happy that he would get to spend time with Candice, but she told him how it was not a good thing. Only one of them can get back in the game. John is not playing to win this game. He is out for the adventure. Candace clearly wants to win.

Back at newbie camp, Brad goes off too much about how important it is to keep the tribe members around who had a loved one, since the couples could then team up later on. It makes some of the others feel uncomfortable. He is not a smart player. I love how Candice gives Brad the finger on her way in. Monica defended her husband a bit, but in the end it was just Brad being a jerk again. It will come back to haunt him.

The duel was a good one. It was a ladder race to move a key on a rope through the rungs of a ladder bridge and then unlock a bag of puzzle pieces. John easily won the duel. Marissa and Candice went back and forth, but Candice won, sending Marissa home. I feel bad since she lost because Culpepper doomed his tribe, but she was fun to get to know. Gervase was classy telling her he was impressed with his niece. John gave the clue to Monica after Candace told him. Monica put it in the fire after Brad told her to do it.

Then we got to see a little of Honeymoon Island with John and Candice enjoying alone time. I hope they really got some "alone time" but since Survivor is PG, nothing was shown on the air.

We learned that Tyson and Gervase are a team now. They go off to drink coconuts and tell teh others crabs are eating them. This could be a good team as both are likable and strong.

The IC was another example of puzzle dominance by the "moms" Tina and Kat sat out, even though tysen has the bum arm. They row out a boat, dive down to release huge blocks, then go in to do the puzzel. Newbies took an early lead, but the boxes spilled out of the boat and the returnees got to the beach first. It was close though. Right up until the puzzel and mom kicked Ciera's butt again.

So the newbies have to go to tribal again. Brad, in a dumb move, let the boys go off to talk and he stayed with the girls. He posed the idea of voting Caleb out to Katie and Ciera. Caleb, Hayden, and Vytas decided to vote Ciera out. He told them he had the girls convinced they were all voting Caleb out. Caleb was not sure about that plan. Caleb somehow found out about Brad campaigning against him. Then it happened. Caleb told the girls he was writing Brad’s name down. Everyone was surprised. They voted and it was a tie between Brad and Ciera. They voted again and Hayden went back and forth for awhile but ultimately was the only one to stay with Brad. Vytas flipped and it was 3-1, bye bye Brad.

Brad was just not a great player. He used bully tactics and divided the tribe by sex, which is always a mistake. He should have taken another approach. Oh well, he is on RI with the lovebirds. see you all next week.

Or is he just inept and lucky?

My husband and I were talking about why it would be good to try and take Caleb to the merge since his (crazy) boyfriend left the show. The rational is he will stick with the person from his original tribe who brings him to the merge, while some of the significant others may try and get pulled to the other size. Plus, it makes Caleb an easy target.

Which is why Brad's logic surprised me, since it didn't make any sense -- much like Brad himself.

Along with Rupert, Brad is one of my least favorite players of the game. Hopefully he'll get knocked out by Tyson, which would be sweet, at the RI competition next week.

What was the point of being sneaky about drinking coconut water? Don't they have an unlimited supply of coconuts on the trees around the island? Maybe they're just a pain in the ass to get down from the tree.

I think it was pretty stupid to put Ciera again in the position of solving a puzzle. By now she's proven she's not that great, but a fog of ignorance seems to have enveloped the Tadhana tribe.

Last night's icing on the cake was the look of surprise on Hayden's cherubic, shiny face. Should make for a good episode next week!

He is a terrible player. Rupert just annoyed me, but sometimes he made good decisions. Brad is both annoying and a bad player. I like your thoughts on Caleb. He would be valuable. I think we will see next week how inept he really is. So far it seems like he is the dumb guy just going along for the ride, but last night was brilliant play.

I am pulling for John to out Brad too.

I did not get the coconut issue either. Just get some coconuts and have at them.

...it is just there to manufacture drama and really detracts from the overall concept I think...

That being said, watching Brad get blind-sided was very tasty...and ironically it will make RI this week very interesting indeed...

Colton is gone so now Tyson has to stoke the drama fires it appears...

Gervase still doesn't get it that he's the one responsible for Marissa's demise..

Candace is sooooooooooooooooooooo much stronger than her husband who seems like a real dummy at times...

The rest of them...like Kat for instance has hardly featured at all....

The show is 1000% better now that Colton is gone, but I guess I'm just maxed out on the whole 'returning celebs/their family members/winners of other stupid reality shows' editions...can we PLEASE just have 30 strangers and throw them on an island to see who survives? I'd watch that show every week willingly!!

I am with you and really dislike it, but this week I will get soem enjoyment out of seeign Brad there. I hope he loses.

I disagree on Gervase. It really was not his fault. It was Brad looking ot oust strong women who could work against him. It is also the reason Brad is goen now. I like it when a tribe shows how awesome a win for the tribe is.

Candace is a tough player. I forgot how good she was. Kat is such a waste of a spot on a show like this. I swear she was only brought in because she is with Hayden, who I think will do very well in thsi game.

I am with you on all new castaways next season, PLEASE!
