Spoiler Warning! I watched the rest of Downton on DVD...anyone else?

SPOILER!!!

Seems to me they sort of added on matthew's death, like they wanted it to have a happy ending like last year's Christmas special, then they knew for certain Dan Stevens would not be returning, so they had to fit that in somehow...last year they ended with the proposal, and this year I think they wanted to end with the three of them...Matthew and Mary and the baby...but they realized they had to do something, so they filmed the death later and re-edited.

Let's see..one death a season....still there will be long run of the show, looks like.

If they want to, they can get rid of Lady Cora Crawley or at least make her hold her head up straight..that sideways big eyes doe like look is getting tiresome.

That way she could have gone to America and brought in Shirley MacLaine again.

Sybil's was, and they figured that was enough...then they were stuck and had to figure out what to do with Matthew.

Mary talk to him on the phone. Then he could go the next season. Too may deaths in too short a time.

I just finished watching it on DVD and felt frustrated by the ending.

Having said that, I've never seen upstairs, downstairs or Brideshead Revisited - so I will probably remain on my period piece movies for a while.

will follow that idea.

Also, they showed just briefly the burned fellow that said he was Patrick - the rightful heir. Then he just disappeared and no more story line. So, thought they might go back to him - and Mary - in 2014.

And they both have babies that need another parent. And Downton really likes to tie things up in tidy little bows... so...
