I tend toward nature in my photo work.
I'm not worth a poop when it comes to people pix or human made structures.
(airplanes are different, I like those)
Birds and critter of all sort, draw my attention.
The more unusual, the better.
Now, if I can figure out how to stick photos in here, I would.

To do this....upload your photos to photobucket or another like image storage site.
Your pictures will be given codes. Copy the IMG code and paste on your post. Voila!
This cake shot isn't mine....it was just convenient on photobucket at this time. You can always "preview" your post to check it out before you post (send) it.
Edit: Welcome to DU!

(208 posts)Let's see if this works.
Ruby-throated Hummer from a couple years ago.
One more.
I'll be darned, it worked.
Anyway, that bird was driving me nuts, so I hit him with the old 40D and a 100mm Macro.
The neck feather shapes and color just blew me away.
Looks like burnished metal.

Now the pix are small, and I have no idea why I can't post several at once.

(208 posts)One more try at this. For some reason, I can no longer get more than one pix to show.
Yellow-crowned Night Heron from across the street.

(46,436 posts)Your birds are much different than ours.
I caught this one a couple days ago. I think it's some kind of chickadee. Maybe somebody can positively identify it for me?

(208 posts)What you have there, is a Red-breasted Nuthatch.
Crazy little things. They move up and down tree trucks like woodpeckers, only they do it head down.
Nice photo BTW. The background flowers balance the shot nicely.
edit to fix a typo.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)They hang around with the black-capped chickadees, so I just assumed that they were related.
ed. I looked up red-breasted nuthatch, and this is what it says: "An intense bundle of energy at your feeder, Red-breasted Nuthatches are tiny, active birds of north woods and western mountains. These long-billed, short-tailed songbirds travel through tree canopies with chickadees, kinglets, and woodpeckers but stick to tree trunks and branches, where they search bark furrows for hidden insects. Their excitable yank-yank calls sound like tiny tin horns being honked in the treetops."

(208 posts)I've only seen one a couple times in the backyard.
Never did catch the "song".
Maybe this year.

That's just plain funny. Do they feed him?...and what?
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)I don't know if that is good, bad or indifferent but he ain;t complainin'.... He brings buddies with him sometimes.
I need to go visit them with my good camera (that was just a little point and shoot).
canonfodder
(208 posts)Take your good camera.
If you can, crouch down a little to get a more level shot.
That's just neat.

(208 posts)Got a couple more to put up here.
Piliated woodpecker. These things are big.
Another Red-headed
Yellow-bellied sapsucker. The lateral drill holes are characteristic of the species.

(2,239 posts)These birds need to put on some hard hats or OSHA is going to come fine them! ; )
It must be fantastic to have access to such wildlife. Excellent photographs.

(208 posts)Some of those birds can be very photogenic.
Best chicken I ever had was a Plymouth Rock.
She was just a lap-chicken. Loved people.

Skittish little birds.
The nest.
Just noted, I spelled "barn", as basm. Fixed.
Stupid typing finger.
