I first saw this guy--although it seems to be an adult female Northern Harrier hawk from the coloring--out my study window on the ground next door...near where I see deer a lot.
I just filled both our bird feeders a couple of hours ago and perhaps that drew the attention of this gorgeous bird. I dashed to get my camera, but the hawk was gone by the time
I got back to the window
Oh, well. I have procrastinated long enough. Time to pack (we leave for Bonaire very early tomorrow morning). As I was walking past our big living room windows, I looked out and
saw the hawk perched in a tree. Grabbed the camera and started shooting. It took off, flying back towards the house next door. I followed it...and got quite a few shots of
it perched in a tree, visible from the side window of my study.
Here she is!

(31,386 posts)none of the ones out the living room window were this good. She was turning her head as I was shooting. Apparently these hawks hunt by sound
as well as sight. Wonder if she heard me?
