Related: About this forumHow's everyone doing with the theme for October: Perspective?
We're in Vancouver after riding the train from Toronto to Vancouver.
Going to share one shot--taken through the window at the back of the Observation car on the moving train pointed to the rear of the train--somewhere between Edmonton and Jasper before it clouded over completely and started raining in the Rockies.

(90,763 posts)I rolled around in gravel yesterday. Have little cuts all over my back. I might have my entry though.
A couple of days before I lolled about the golf course, reclining on the green. It was still wet from all the rain. Got some nice shots though.
I moved when players were coming through. It was annoying with all the getting up and down I had to do. Damn golfers.
Have a safe and happy trip!
You crack me up, Solly Mack. I was moving around on the train--bumping into things, trying to remain standing--while still
keeping a focus, not get a reflection off the glass, and trying to catch the shot before we had moved past it!

(90,763 posts)In shorts. Like an idiot. Wanted to get to a closed part of the tracks to avoid getting hit by a train. Maybe not that big of an idiot after all.
Got the typical vanishing point shots of the tracks.
I see you struggled too. In the relative comfort of a train, with climate control... and no briars, or gravel, or snakes.

(60,071 posts)This one is looking up (low aspect) and in a 1:1 aspect ration.
This one is looking up at a 4:3 aspect ratio.
High aspect, aspect ration at 4:3

(31,384 posts)proportion between objects as well as a sense of depth.
The first one is certainly looking at the flower from a different point of view, but for the theme related to the definition
of perspective in photography, I think another choice might be more interesting.
Solly Mack
(90,763 posts)Perspective in photography includes vanishing point, height , low angle, 1 & 2 point, linear, rectilinear, atmospheric, volume, forced, overlap, and dwindling size.
Is the use of all of those examples of perspective in photography acceptable for the contest?
The flower shot is low angle perspective but you want something more interesting?
Just wanting to be clear because I love shooting from a low angle perspective.
I've shot from all, to include forced - because I like setting up my own shots.
Thanks!

(90,763 posts)I stood and watched for a few seconds. He looked at me and flew away.
Gave me a thrill.
I placed a camera next to the door in the event he comes back. He probably won't now that I'm ready for him.
I get rabbits at night. Bad for them, but good for the owl.
There's always a bright side.

(1,210 posts)bless her, kept up with her photography and then took up art even and when she was told she was legally blind she kept at it.
I treasure her work - it is beautiful and inspirational.
May you have many more happy clicking shutters ahead of you.

(31,384 posts)My youngest son has a juvenile, genetic form of macular degeneration called Stargardt's disease. He lost a dramatic
amount of vision when he was 9 (now 25), but fortunately his was the type that stabilized. He is legally blind. He
sees with his peripheral vision.
Regarding the low angle perspective, yes, absolutely a possible submission. I'm not going to be judge/jury on
accepting photos: we'll let the voters decide which photo of perspective appeals most. I'm just saying that for me,
I like photos that offer both depth and spatial relationship information.

(31,384 posts)I LOVED your upside down flowers with the water drops--not only because it was a different viewpoint,
but because it combined the elements of water droplets along the flower. The upside down flower, by itself,
is not as interesting without the water droplets providing a sense of relationship to the petals.

I hate that process.

(90,763 posts)I've seriously considered risking the bites to get a low angle shot of it. 'Cause of the cuteness of it all - an ant's eye view of ants.
I figure I could make a shallow trench near the hill and angle a camera there. Maybe wear gloves and long pants. Socks. Chainmail.

(7,346 posts)But as usual when I shrank it down to posting size a lot of detail was lost and the picture looks flatter and fuzzier. I'm trying shrinking it down in increments, you know, reducing it from 4608 pixels to 2304, then 1157 and then 900 or whatever... I don't know if it makes a difference but it was a tip I heard about. It does seem to make a slight difference but maybe by this point it's all psychological?

(22,380 posts)this is the hardest choice for me yet.
I have about 15 already and have barely begun.
Should I just sit one out? It certainly would be a novel idea.
