Today's adventure

Started with a slightly different route through Pope Valley where the golden State is in full gold.

I stopped and trudged down this abandoned road.

Where I knew I would find an old bridge. The bridge has been repaired and now leads up the hill to where someone has built a house… in a high risk fire area with one road in and one road out. Oy vey.

This little pond was full of beaucoup badass baby bass, who will, next rainy season (assuming we have one), be washed down into Lake Berryessa. These guys had staked out about six square inches in the sandy shallows and were valiently, or sometimes violently, defending their sandy declivities. there were itty bitties swimming in the extreme shallows.

The pond bank was full of these beauties.

At Berryessa I found this. I think we can all guess what it is, although perhaps better used when the lake has more water.

You can see how much the lake has dropped since winter.

And I can't believe I missed this nest in all the times I've driven past there lately. This is a chick who is very happy since mom had just brought him a fish.

It looks very very dry there. Now I understand why you get so many nasty mudslides. Really like the old bridge and yea, people aren't too bright when it comes to fire mitigation.

Oh, and the flowers. I really like the flowers. They're all very nice.
