The Opening

A shot from my opening this weekend. This show was created to coincide with World AIDS Day and was inspired by wheat pastes on brick walls. I invited 16 diverse members of the community to participate in the project which presents the latest HIV and PrEP stats.

The pieces are fairly large scale, 36" x 48", and while shot with a more conventional camera the images were downloaded to my phone where the majority of the post processing took place.

Interesting images!

I can remember a time when nobody could show images like these, or even talk about HIV.

We have made significant progress.

I remember those days well that's why I felt it was important to do this series. We've come a long way but there were some stats that showed we still have a way to go.

I've been really interested in the look of wheat paste on brick and doing large scale engineering prints and this project was a perfect subject for combining the two.

While the brick background is a straight up photograph, the portraits were run through 8 different apps to get to the point where I could combine both in Photoshop so I could enlarge them for printing and work on some of the smaller detail work.
