Great Blue Herons hang out in a shallow creek near our place in the country, and I have NEVER been able to catch them with the camera - guess I would have to camp out down there to get a shot. I love these birds - they are so sleek and aerodynamic -

Yeah, blue herons are kind of gray, and green herons are kind of maroon. Spent the last two days trying to get a decent shot of a great egret so I know how difficult this is. Your photo is nice and sharp! Of course you can't always order up the lighting that is ideal. I actually love the unpredictability of bird photography.

this one snuck up behind me. I was shooting one the opposite direction and couldn't get a decent shot. Then it flew off. I packed my stuff up turned to go and this one was behind me. Lucky there was a tree between him and me. I had to lay down on my belly to sneak up for the shot.
