(60,071 posts)I don't have many opportunities to speak with people other than my wife. So I overdid it yesterday. I lost my voice, and now have a bit of a sore throat. That's fine. It was worth it.
The best part of a parade isn't the parade, it is the crowd.
I saw a Fuji X-E1 there. What a lovely camera.

(60,071 posts)Compliments, friendly chatter, jokes, all work to gain their confidence. A young Indian girl asked me where I got my beads, so I gave her mine. She was so thrilled she hugged me, so I asked for a photograph. It came out blurred.
If you want something (a photo), you have to give something. A smile is enough in many cases.
I think the longer focal length allowed some space between the subject and myself. I think that put them at ease.

(10,751 posts)...my favorites are shots 1 (in color) and 2 (in B&W) -- although truly there are some great ones in this group.
I don't really photograph people, don't know why. But I do admire those who can do it well.

(60,071 posts)I told the old woman I liked her tam. That broke the ice. I then asked if I could do a portrait of her and she said yes.
Black and white is where I started, and is still my first love. I'm glad you like my photos.
