Color (and sunshine) is a rare commodity here this time of year. I discovered this frozen rainbow too late for the contest but thought I'd share it anyway.
The Mosquito Lake Power Squadron in dry dock:
They'll be up and running, annoying the elderly fishermen in their small boats again in a few months.
The lake I live near actually is named Mosquito Creek Reservoir by the way, but it's locally called "Mosquito Lake" for the sake of brevity. We don't see many out of town tourists.

(90,764 posts)Does that damage them? Lakes/rivers/ponds/creeks don't freeze where I'm from.

(18,628 posts)I know the guy who owns the local SeaDoo dealership, and those are in his front lot. Actually, they just look like they were dumped there, and some are busted up, but I imagine he drains the water from them to prevent freezing damage.
I thought it made a contrasting statement on the season with a palette of neon colors to boot, and I like junk art. I once took a picture of a twisted pile of scrap mufflers and tailpipes while my son stood by and sadly shook his head.

(90,764 posts)I just couldn't help wondering about the damage. I've lived in snow areas. Both Colorado and Kansas, as well as Germany. I just tend to forget the snow times. Sorta like a bad memory.
I was raised in the south and the one blizzard I went through there sent me moving farther south. It was a very bad blizzard. I can drive in snow. I know how to layer. I love how it looks with fresh snow and I even think ice storms are beautiful...deadly but beautiful. I'm just a happy sun person.
