Headed South!

Huge flocks of Canada's moving through in the last few days, headed South. I watched at least 500 on a pond yesterday afternoon, kicking myself the whole time for not having a camera with me!

Later I caught a few pics of a smaller group taking flight, they are incredibly beautiful birds!

thanks for the reminder... it is easy to miss the beauty when they are so plentiful... (sort of like dandelions ) a few years back I was standing near a pond when hundreds of them decided to take flight directly in front and above me; it had the same effect as when I have been in the midst of a swarm of bees... just breath-taking

The best part was I saw them from above. I was flying my plane at about 4,000' or so and they were below me. The sight was so incredible I followed them for a while.

They were leaving here about a month ago. I haven't seen any since I got back from CA, so they must have all hit the road (or the sky) by now. I really love them, especially in the spring when they signal the end of winter.
