Years ago I bought my neighbors' s&p collection

I put a set in my booth recently, and she bought them back.

I tried to just give them to her, but she wouldn't hear of it.

11. I was surpised the set is selling on eBay for $30.00 or more

I put $5 on the set after I saw that. Downsizing.

We saw a collection sell at auction for over $700.00. That was 20 years ago. My husband and I were astonished. Someone sitting near us explained that there was a woodman and axe (?) set that was worth about $800.00 by itself. Spirited and memorable bidding war

7. I collect salt and pepper shakers myself

I wouldn’t sell them unless I was totally broke. They make me smile and they are so much fun to collect!

8. I kept a set for myself

It is ceramic, maybe Holt Howard. A black haired lady sitting in a rocker. She is the salt and the rocker is the pepper. Unused, no damage. I was tempted to keep others, but I'm trying to downsize The collection was her grandmother's. My neighbor kept them a long time, then realized that no one in the family wanted them. There are about 300 sets.

9. Probably about 300+hundred myself

I keep the Christmas and Halloween ones put away because I’m running out of room. I substitute teach and show the kids a few sets if they do their work! It’s a great bribe! I was out with my husband one day and this kid ran up to me and asked me if I had any salt and pepper shakers on me. Her parents said she loved seeing them! Sometimes I don’t break them out unless I’m asked in the higher grades. A teacher gave me the other a toaster with two pieces of toast on them salt and pepper shakers. And the other day I brought Peter cottontail rabbit with a watering can.

I try to restrain myself buying them. And whenever I traveled overseas I brought some interesting ones!

10. I noticed a set of toast and toaster, cute

I went through this collection when I bought it, I took a few sets of Thanksgiving and holiday sets out. About 15 years ago, I bought a ceramic nodder set at Dollar Tree, Santa's boots nodding on the chimney. I collect Santas, and I loved the humor.

It is really nice to hear that the kids like your sets so much. Maybe get some of them interested in collecting as a hobby.

12. That's funny. When I had a booth a young woman turned up one day and was screaming that something

in my booth had come from her Grandma's house and that I had stolen it. I wasn't there, so I don't know what she was claiming I swiped. Turned out she was a whackadoodle and the police were happy to escort her out. I like your story better.

14. i have a collection of SALTS .... little glass salts. I have some old spoons too

one of the spoons is from the mid 1800's

18. i bought mine on ebay and at flea markets
