is heightened and left populist movements (Occupy) come into being are ALWAYS fertile recruiting grounds for the REAL left.

Now the CPUSA (indeed ALL Communist parties worldwide) needs to get off of this kick of supporting centrist candidates standing for "election" and go back to their 1917 roots as revolutionary socialist parties. NOT just being the left wing of the reformist bloc.
