Never, ever has attending a mandatory weekly staff meeting been a productive use of anyone's time
I stand by that. It is an unassailable fact.

6. I totally agree. I had one boss who kept to a schedule...
|
he wouldn't let people blather on and on. Still, it was a waste of time with people trying to make themselves sound busy.

7. All staff meetings follow this pattern:
|
1. Meeting starts several minutes late because person in charge is yakking away with someone who is already seated.
2. First topic of conversation is mentioned quickly; over and done. 3. Second topic of conversation is immediately derailed by someone who should be discussing their personal "situation" with their own supervisor. Or HR. Or a psychiatrist. 4. See number three. 5. See number three. 6. See number three. 7. Meeting over. |

11. Meetings in general tend to be worthless.
|
It's that '95%of life is just showing up' attitude. There's a ton of management types out there who think that meetings in and of themselves are accomplishments-- not the kickoff to accomplishing something, not the wrap-up afterwards-- the actual justification of their existence.

12. all staff meetings consist of 3 sections.
|
1. stuff that doesn't apply to you
2. stuff that applies to you but has already been taken care of. 3. stuff that you could care less about. |
