Artist Thomas Kinkade dead at 54.

The "painter of light" whose work was disdained by art critics but loved by the public died of natural causes.

His works reportedly earned him $100 million a year.

He often said he just wanted to make people happy.

Other threads about him on GD are very en"light"ening as it were. Not only was he a schlock artist (obviously) but he was a really miserable bastard in his personal and business dealings.

I urge reading those posts but I think the dancing on the grave tone is over the top.

But some groups can't have their sacred cows mocked without
feeling mocked themselves.

They're too invested in it.
