Tiny bits of good news -- what brought a smile (even bitter) to your face today?

I have two: Felicia Day (actor, geek, all around lovely person) announced about three weeks ago that she was expecting. (She held her announcement.) She had a little girl today, Calliope Maeve. Yay for new moms and baby toes and continuing the feminist geek family!

Personal: my neighborhood has one Asshat. (Royal blue city and county in a comfortably blue state.) You know the type -- gigantic duallie diesel that he coal-rolls when he sees parents out with the stroller or a Prius, takes two parking spaces if he's good at parking so usually takes three, had twice as many yard signs as the HOA allows (up to 6) for the worst candidates, and had giant custom cut vinyl anti-HRC and pro-Cheeto stickers applied to doors, bed and tailgate of said monster truck.

I know he's been reported for the rolling at least 5 times (I've done it three, a neighbor has twice, and we both got video). Truck's been gone for a few days. It's back. It has a city boot on it, which is how the city handles rollers. They come take the boot off, and you can drive only to the repair shop/dealer, with escort. Also, all the vinyl is off. Dude's trying to go stealth. Either ashamed or scared or losing business -- I don't care. Probably still thinking like an asshat, but I'll take small behavioral improvements whenever they come.

I was walking in the park when I saw a bird watcher looking up in the trees, all puzzled. I took off my bluetooth headset as she looked like she was about to talk to me. That's when I heard the noises she had been trying to pin-point: squeek-squawk, squeek-squawk.

It turned out to be my sneakers. When I mentioned that her, we both had a good laugh over it.

I small, insignificant encounter, but sharing a laugh with a stranger always brightens my day.
