Fun read, but not a patch on the real books. I really missed the world-building.

You do have to create your own details. Fortunately many of the venues are familiar to us, but yes, it's a bit harder to envision.

Apparently the play does an amazing job with visuals and effects. Hottest ticket in London.

This book's sales are only a quarter of what Deathly Hallows' were. Saw this headline: "Harry Potter fans outraged that Cursed Child script is, in fact, a script"

I'd signed up for early release info (I'm a MASSIVE Potter fan) but the tickets are hugely expensive. I can always wander down there and get last-minute release tickets if I change my mind.

Remember that Rowling did not write it. Had wooden dialogue, was kind of pathetic what Harry, Hermione, and especially Ron became, and there were plot inconsistencies with the villain and polyjuice potion. Did not like all the time turning as that was a minor part of the books. It did not have the depth the books had.

But, if you just want some Harry Potter fun and can take it as a fan fic play, it is still readable. I can't put down anything Harry Potter, and this is no exception. A couple good things were the focus on Albus and his struggles and the friendship with Scorpius.

Hopefully we sometime get a new novel from JK and she says this is not the outcome she wanted.

With MUCH more nuanced and interesting futures for the central three from the original books.

That includes the movies. I'll give it a read because it's new Harry Potter but I may regret it.

I would read it - it's not terrible and is new HP after a long wait. It's just I am surprised JK approved this as it's below previous standards. The play itself may be more fun as I can see the special effects being good.

Since it's a screenplay and Rowling didn't write it, I wasn't sure if I even want to read it.
