It had installed itself while we were at the movie!
The computer geek my husband uses was just here and will remotely fix the damn thing. He said it's happened to quite a few of his clients.
Outrageous!
BTW, the movie was excellent! Great performances from Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons. Fascinating, and sad, story.

(3,995 posts)I stopped it. When I rebooted, it reverted to Win 7, but is now super slow. I contacted my IT guys and they both told me that if I don't upgrade by July, I will be charged to upgrade, so I should do it now. Not happy. I wanted to stay with my current OS.

The renowned Steve Gibson of TWIT.TV has created this free mini-program for Win 7/8/8.1 to permanently block Windows 10.

It's very easy, and free, to stop this from happening.
Good luck.

(16,377 posts)I'm by no means a "mathie" but for some reason most of my friends and both my boys are; there were seven of us in the theater and all but one was in my group. It was a good movie and it inspired me to read more about Ramanujan. I was confused about his marriage during the movie and I read that his wife was nine years old when they wed. I guess this wasn't unusual. She loved him with all of her heart and never married again, although she lived to 94-years-old, dying in 1994.

using technology more difficult as time goes by. He doesn't need the change.

(149,614 posts)I took my laptop in to my IT guy and had him remove the damn link so it would never happen! We got to it in time, thank goodness.
He also fixed my desktop remotely.
I have Win 7 on both and I plan to keep it till Microsoft no longer supports it.
Luckily, he is much younger than I am!
