http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2016/04/04/a-new-way-to-waste-time-online-google-now-makes-animal-noises/Google describes its mission as a company to "organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful". That now apparently extends to making animal noises.
Searching for "what noise does a [animal] make" and you will now get results featuring a short audio sample of the animal in question, ranging from your standard farmyard animals to the more exotic bowhead whale and elephant. Alternatively, try searching "animal noises" for one of the sounds at random.
It might be intended as an educational tool for children, but is possibly more likely to just be a way to waste time at work.
The selection of animals is fairly limited, with the range limited to 19 that we were able to find, but that's still enough to spend at least 90 seconds of your time. The zebra and (rather disgruntled) cat noises are particular highlights. Google also uploaded a turtle sound, but searching for it does not appear to work.

(26,219 posts)I saw this and thought you were joking, so I googled it and ran through the sounds with my cat on my lap. She was cocking her head, but when I got to the cat, she jumped up like a firecracker lit under her and has been pacing for the last 10 minutes trying to find the cat under and around the furniture.
That was/is freaky as shit.
THANK you!

(206,564 posts)He looked at me curiously at the other noises, but the cat sound sent him looking all over the room - while giving me very strange looks, like he thought the sound might be coming from me...

Rainforest - Interactive Tropical Forest Soundscape
Summer Night - Near ultra-sonic Natural Frequency Sound Generator
A Bird's Paradise - Interactive Tropical Birds Soundscape

What the... Farm - Noise Blocker for Open-Plan Offices

(my personal setting, not the default)
Sled Dogs - Dog Powered Online Noise Generator
Subaquatic Dreams - Underwater Soundscape Generator (Dolphin, Bubbles and Waves)
Underwater - Home of the Fin Whale
I picked all of the animal noises I could find, but there may be others. Have a look around

(206,564 posts)I remember trying the purring noise when my cat was a tiny kitten. I found him in a grocery store parking lot one night on my way home and he was anything but cuddly, hoped the soothing noise might calm him down. But he's over a year old now, has grown into a beautiful cat, IMO. And he's practically a lap cat now, enjoys being petted, but he's still not particularly calm, so I'm going to try this again.

(29,414 posts)so I don't know how cats respond to it. I hope it works, especially if it did in the past

(206,564 posts)He has improved so much, looks for affection now, but I know he gets bored, despite having more cat toys than he could ever use, LOL, so I'm always looking for ways to entertain him. Here is Felix, who has grown up to be one beautiful cat! (At least I think so... )

(29,414 posts)Kipper (named by my past-wife for a cat she used to have in Ontario) died a couple of years ago of cancer. I haven't replaced him because I'm so bad with clutter that I'd be afraid for the safety of a new cat
That's cute with him hugging his plushy
Here's Kipper from probably five or six years ago:
