Left out

I've been a contractor at a company for about 6 weeks. This week there was a new hire and the boss decided to take the whole department out to lunch. I was in the meeting where she was introduced and I will be working closely with her. However when they had the lunch today he invited everyone but me- presumably because I am a contractor. I was a little shocked. I am not surprised to be left out of all employee meetings but- lunch?

This went on for almost a year.

I am a full time employee with no department (I function as an internal consultant and float around).

I get left out of *everything*. It's like I'm not even here 98% of the time.

I'm not sure what his reasoning was, maybe it was just an oversight? Try not to read too much into it. Hopefully, you have a good working relationship with him, despite his poor decision.

At any rate, you aren't left out here.

everyone in the office except me. In fact he looked at me, then turned his back on me and stood there and introduced two other people two her - she was looking at me like who is that lady behind you and he just didn't get it. The guy who organized the lunch did introduce me during her interview.

It just seems so bizarre to me. If someone is right there at their desk and you are bringing a candidate through the department, you introduce them. It seems crazy to act like a contractor does not need to be introduced because they wont be there forever. I don't get it.

I don't think not inviting me to lunch was an oversight.
