The doctor said just aspirin. If that counts as a blood thinner, that's it. He said I don't need Plavix, just aspirin.

Potent stuff--every time I got scratched by a thorn in the woods, I bled as if I had just committed seppuku.

I take a baby aspirin every day since I had a minor stroke. Doctor's orders.

P.S. Great news for you!

I mean, I am young, but my blood pressure went so high, no matter how much exercise I did.

So, I am very happy for you.

Get checked up regularly anyway. I have fairly low BP (usually 115/70), so even though I was within days, maybe hours of a probably fatal infarction, I felt no chest pain at all, just a few minor shoulder twinges, which I had read could be a danger sign. I sought out a cardiologist on pure suspicion, and he sent me up to a cardiac clinic that hour, do not pass Go, do not do anything else. They put in two stents, then showed me the images. I had two forward coronary arteries 99% clogged. They said I was lucky to be alive, and was the luckiest man in Europe that day for NOT having had a massive heart attack before they got to me.

So take any advice your cardiologist(s) give you VERY seriously. I bought myself 11 extra years of life (so far) that way.
