I haven't seen a Marvel movie since the third Maguire Spiderman installment. Is that wrong?

And it's not necessarily against Spiderman 3 in particular, just a sense of ennui with the genre in general.

So far, I've missed all the Ironman movies, the Avengers series, two different Hulk movies, Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, and a completely different Spiderman series.

I have seen The Dark Knight (which is DC) due to all the hype, found it rather overrated, and didn't bother with The Dark Knight Rises.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy an exciting, action packed movie. And I have nothing against Marvel or comic book adaptations in general. But there's something about it that just makes me say "Meh" while apparently everyone else and their mother is rushing out to see these movies.

Am I missing anything good by my indifference?

I did like Nolan's Batman series, but really don't enjoy those types of movies.

Also, the Christopher Nolen Batman movies are worth it, I found. I read a review/analysis of the trilogy at the Adventus website, and was intrigued by his take on the movies. In part, Adventus sees this Batman cycle as pointing out the rewards and hazards of taking on responsibility. Looking at not just Batman, but other characters (e.g., Alfred the Butler, Lucius Fox, Commissioner Gordon, and the villains) as each of them have taken up their individual responsibilities and where that leads their characters is an interesting sub-story perking along beneath the main storyline.

3. Don't judge the Marvel movies by Spiderman (a Sony movie)

I am a huge Marvel comic fan. I have seen all the Marvel Universe movies and they are pretty good for what they are. They didn't hit Thor (my boy) perfectly but it is all still good stuff.

4. For sheer entertainment value, they're pretty good.

But hey - if those movies don't float your boat, nothing wrong with that. I will say that if you're comparing them to the third Maguire Spiderman installment, they're much better. I recommend watching one just so you're not having to say that anymore (I'm not a fan of Maguire in that role). Maybe give Captain America a try.

5. It's not that I hated Spiderman 3 as much as I just lost interest in comic book movies.

The movie world became too supersaturated with action hero movies for me and I didn't have the energy or the interest to keep up.

9. Both Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises are awesome. The Avengers movies are also awesome.

Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies of all time.

And as far as the Marvel movies go here's how I would rank them so far:

Iron Man: A+
Guardians Of The Galaxy: A+
The Avengers: A+
Captain America - The Winter Soldier: A-
Captain America - The First Avenger: B+
Avengers - Age Of Ulron: B
Thor - The Dark World: B
Iron Man 2: B
Thor: B-
Iron Man 3: C
The Incredible Hulk: D

Ant-Man: Hasn't been released yet.

The first four are definitely worth seeing. You kind of have to watch Thor: The Dark World if only for the closing credits scene which sets up Guardians Of The Galaxy, which sets up Avengers: Age Of Ultron. What's cool about the Marvel movies is how they're all interconnected. Some of the things in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also set up scenes in The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World, and Age Of Ultron.

13. Personally, I just didn't find The Dark Knight worthy of all the massive acclaim it got.

I mean, it's currently the fourth highest ranked movie on IMDB behind only The Shawshank Redemption and the first two Godfather films.

To me, it wasn't a horrible film, but I just didn't see what was all that special about it. All I remember was that Harvey Dent's transition to Two-Face seemed rather abrupt and forced, the ending felt somewhat flat, and for a movie supposedly about Batman, Christian Bale (a terrific actor) seemed to be phoning it in. Heath Ledger did a decent job as The Joker, but honestly I think his untimely and tragic death resulted in a lot of additional praise for the film overall.

I don't know, I just remember the movie feeling rather chaotic and unorganized and jumping around from point to point without a good sense of cohesive story. And perhaps that might have been the point where the main antagonist describes himself as an agent of chaos, but it didn't really register with me on a movie-viewing experience.

I don't know. Perhaps I'm crazy. Or perhaps I might have appreciated it more had I seen "Batman Begins." But to me personally, it just didn't live up to the hype.

10. The only comic book movies I've enjoyed

were the Dark Knight series (Rises was even better than the earlier ones). I think all the movies are off the Marvel Ultimates Universe. The whole reboots thing is a little much for me.

11. Since Spidey 3: Skip Iron Man 2 and 3, both Thors...

Skip both Ghost Riders, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Punisher: War Zone.

Any X-Men affiliated movies since Spidey 3 are either 'ok' or enjoyable.

Unless I'm missing some, the rest of the Marvel offerings since 2007 have been really good, IMO, even the second Spidey reboot movies (including the second one which was above average but still more of the same.)

I haven't seen any of the Spiderman films, nor any of the others, nor any of the Batman franchise. I did see a couple of Superman films with Christopher Reeve when they were new...That was quite a while ago!

I was a massive comic-book nut back in the day. Yet, I've missed more movies than I've seen. I refuse to see them edited on TV so...my indifference is somewhat complex to explain.

For example, I'm up to date on my Walking Dead episodes, but I haven't gone near the Daredevil series. Meh, indeed.
